Service Desk Technician

A little about me!

I'm an IT professional driven by a simple goal: making complex technology easy and accessible for everyone I support. Day to day, I bring patience, clear communication, and dependable problem-solving to user support. Off the clock, you'll usually find me in my homelab configuring firewalls, managing virtual machines (VMs), and diving into new concepts.

Project(s) I'm currently working on

In my home lab, I am building a personal environment to practice system administration, networking, and monitoring:

  • Virtualization with Proxmox- I built and configured a 3-node Proxmox VE cluster to run multiple Windows and Linux virtual machines(VMs). This setup allows me to experiment with server configurations, software deployments, scripts, and troubleshooting in a controlled environment.

  • Monitoring with Raspberry Pi 5- I deployed a Raspberry Pi 5 as a lightweight monitoring node, using Grafana and Prometheus to track system performance and resource usage across my VMs.

  • Networking and VLANs- I configured a managed switch to test VLAN segmentation, basic networking setups, and remote access workflows. I have installed OPNsense as a dedicated firewall to manage custom routing and network traffic controls.

I'm continually expanding my home lab and plan to:

  • Build a NAS to explore centralized storage and backup strategies.

  • Finalize the OPNsense configuration with custom firewall rules and an IDS to monitor the network.

  • Configure Pi-hole on the Raspberry Pi 5 to handle local DNS resolution and network-wide ad blocking.

These upcoming additions will allow me to deepen my understanding of storage, networking, and infrastructure management, preparing me for more advanced IT and help desk challenges.
